Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Randwick Botany Cycling ClubHeffron Park, Sydney, October 8, 2005The usual Heffron Park gale was upgraded to 'hurricane' status at the weekly Randwick Botany Cycling Club Criterium races on Saturday 8 October, but that did not deter our local dare devil riders as they moved about in the cross winds, almost stopped in the headwinds, and set speed records downwind. The fields were significantly smaller this week and with the riders going off the back of the bunch one by one, sometimes two and three at a time, there were only a handful of riders left in each grade. A-grade broke up very early with Dave Whyman and Stewart "Computer" Campbell working together for almost the entire race. In the end Dave turned on the pace and Campbell was happy to sit up and roll in for second. B-grade - Richard Lang moved away from the front of the bunch early in the race and continued to move away for the entire race. About halfway through he came running back to the start-finish line with a rear puncture. Even with a wheel change he finished ahead by a country mile. C-grade action saw Karl Bellamy leading young gun Aaron Bicknell. Aaron is getting quicker all the time and did a fabulous one-lap time of 3 minutes flat which was very impressive on under 15 gearing.
