Northern Veterans Cycling Club

Poatina, Tasmania, November 27, 2005

On Sunday at Poatina 26 riders faced the starter in the Calvary Health Northern Veterans 10km hill climb. In perfect conditions Launceston police officer Paul Turner showed his rivals a clean pair of heels to put in a great ride to reach the top clearly in front of training partners Dale Woolston and Peter Oliver. D Grader Rob Nimmo put in a very strong ride to win his grade.

The race was the first of the club's three-race Christmas series, the next one being a 30km graded race on December 11th at Longford starting at 10am. Duty members are Sally Fletcher and Brendan Davie. Next Sunday starting at Westbury will be the Andy's Bakery 60km graded race. This event conducted by the North Western Veterans Club will carry prizemoney of $1000 and will also be the last race in the TVCC State Series which carries prizemoney of $1100. This series will be heading for a great finish as North West riders Peter Gleeson and Bob Walker are equal on points and will be closely watching each other in the race for the $600 first prize.
