Peter Weston, Josh Steele and Ruth Stout made the most of the unusually good weather, pushing hard into the light headwind and collecting Angelo Ylia on the second lap. Kel Elleway, riding solo, caught Amanda Steele and Mick Grey at the 10km to go mark, with the group reaching speeds of up to 45km/h in a chase to catch the leading bunch. Hamish MacKirdy and Lee Stevens timed their race brilliantly and clawed back
a large handicap to catch the majority of the field. MacKirdy claimed the fastest
time title along with second place and Stevens snatched third in a spectacular
group sprint that reached 53km/hr. Gordon Lawton made the most of his "limit"
handicap to beat all of the other riders home and claim first prize. The next race will be at Glossop on Sunday starting at 9:30am. All road riders
are welcome. For more details visit http://www.riverlandcyclingclub.com Results1 Gordon Lawton 2 Hamish MacKirdy 3 Lee Stevens 4 Kel Elleway 5 Josh Steele 6 Amanda Steele 7 Peter Weston 8 Ruth Strout 9 Angelo Ylia 10 Mick Grey 11 John Eshman Local results 2004 |
