On what was one of the chilliest starts so far, Ruth Strout and Angelo Ylia
rode off limit, making it to the half-way hotdog turn before being caught by
the five-minute grouping of Amanda Steele, John Eshman, Peter "Discovery Channel"
Weston and Fiona Jarred. Steele, Weston, Jarred and Eshman put the pressure on the rest of the field however, pushing faster on the return leg to break well above their allocated average speed. In a furious dash for the line Eshman broke away from Steele to claim the winner's trophy. Steele claimed the second place medal and Strout the third place medal. Hamish MacKirdy had a tough race to claim the fastest time trophy as his scratchman partner Lee Stevens succumbed to a mechanical failure and fatigue (caused by watching the other big race of the day). The next race will be held at Loxton on Sunday starting at 9:30am with riders able to choose between the standard 44km course or take the 90km "Tour of Allawoona" route. All road riders are welcome.
