On what was a warm yet windy morning, riders pedalled hard and rode well above their expected handicapped speeds, slowing only for the rough corners and the final uphill stretch of circuit. Peter Weston and Mark Moore were evenly matched, riding at a good pace before being caught by Mick Grey, Josh and Amanda Steele on their third lap. This group employed excellent teamwork to increase their lead on the rest of the field, overtaking the limit riders Angelo Ylia and Gordon Lawton mid-way through the last lap and shaking Bob Pankhurst on the second-last turn. Kel Elleway and Lee Stevens were unable to make up much ground on the main group after Angus Boase withdrew. In a tight finish, Josh Steele claimed his second win of the season just ahead of sprint specialist Grey. Elleway easily claimed the fastest time title with an impressive 36km/hr average. The next road race will be held along Lindsay Point road on Sunday at 9:30am.
There will be a weekly social ride starting at 8:30am leaving from the Redgum
