Glen Jacobs, Matt Hemsley, Patrick Tubbs and Rob Ekberg led the race to the finish, clinging to a narrow lead. Jacobs took the sprint from Matt Hemsley, with Patrick Tubbs just edging out Rob Ekberg for third place. Peter Jenkins led in the chasing group for fifth with Glen Christensen, John Burgess, Brett Loney, Kevin Simmons and Bruce Clements completing the top ten placings. Alan Adams recorded fastest time of 1hour 8minutes 31seconds for the 45km. Carl Simmons, Steve Ditullio and Ron Burgess contested the 'Rob Vernon' memorial open at Bendigo on Saturday, riding strongly from their middle handicaps over the 114km course, but not being able catch the leading group. In the u17 Junior Handicap, Silas Fisher rode through the field from his middle handicap to score an impressive win. Silas will contest the State Road Championship events at Wangaratta next weekend.
