The 50 km handicap race conducted by the Calvary Health Northern Veterans and sponsored by the Midlands Hotel of Oatlands provided a great race and a very popular winner. Chartrain broke away from his own bunch and caught all the remaining riders and continued on to win by 30 seconds. Gavin Moore, the oldest rider in the race, and top lady rider Linda Sulzberger chased frantically all the way to the finish of the hilly course and just managed to hold off the main bunch, led home by Roger Butorac.Peter Gleeson put up a great ride from the scratch mark to take out fastest time in the excellent time of 1 hour 22 minutes 30 seconds. August 14th racing will be at Longford at 10am with entries closing at 9 45am.
