Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Northern Veterans Cycling ClubSt Helens, Tasmania, April 3, 2005In wet and windy conditions, 38 riders faced the starter at St Helens on Sunday. The annual race put on by the Calvary Health Care Northern Vets and sponsored by Targetts Pharmacy, Bayside Inn and the Break 'o' Day Council with $500 in prize money proved a great day out for the winner Peter Castillo; not only did he win the race but also a lucky draw of a night's accomodation at Dohertys Resort, St Helens. The second scratch bunch put up a great ride to pull the other bunches back with only a few kilometres to the finish. Castillo put in a great sprint to narrowly hold off Port Sorell rider Bob Walker and 13 other survivors in the front bunch. Castillo has been showing great form in recent weeks and will now be elevated to the scratch mark. The three scratch men in Sunday's race put in an excellent ride, chasing the large bunch in the strong headwind on the return journey, with Dale Woolston holding out Peter Oliver to score the fastest time. Next Sunday, 10th April, racing will be at Bracknell, starting at 10am. Duty riders are Ian Leighton and John Towers.
