Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Southern Tasmanaian Veterans Cycling ClubKen Self Ride Centre Handicap, Tasmania, November 21, 2004Brendon Reading took out his biggest cycling career win by winning the 2004 Ken Self Cycle Centre Handicap. Complete with his trademark "rebel yell", Brendon beat Clive Roper by a tyre width. Clive was happy with his podium result following his Oatlands to Richmond win two weeks ago. Christine Neil made it two consecutive third placings by replicating her Oatlands to Richmond result. She was also the first lady over the line. Brendon and Clive started from the two minute mark and quickly caught the front riders. With a strengthening headwind developing during the outward part of the race, the later starters enjoyed less than favourable conditions in which to chase. The front markers made the turn with a 10 minute gap on the scratchies and with the help of the strong tailwind they where never going to be caught. Fastest time went to Mark Bowden, starting from the 23:30 mark, with a very respectable 1:00:20. This, however, was more than six minutes after the line winners had completed the race. Good results were achieved for first time Vet rider Craig Sly, who too fifth, and Northern Vet Andrew Haigh, who finished fourth.
