Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Southern Veterans CCMay 15, 2004Southern Veteran club members took part in the Peter Nelson Leaukaemia charity two up time trial this weekend. In windy conditions, a reduced turnout of riders competed in the event with some interesting tandems characterised by a wide range of ages. The time of the last rider of the pair over the line determined the finishing time overall with categories for the different types of bikes and groupings. Some pairs rode tandems. Funds raised go towards supporting a team of six full time researchers employed at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Research is continuing studying programmed cell death and DNA/RNA encoding. The fastest time on the day went to the formidible team of Peter Moore and John Giles, finishing the 33km in 50 minutes 22 seconds. In the mixed category, it was a very close event with the winning team of Caroline Salisbury and Syd Carter just holding off M and A Field by a mere one second in a time of 56 minutes dead. The oldest combination on the day was awarded a prize for sheer endeavour. Noel Myatt and John Yerxa had a combined age of 129 years. Next week the Southern Vets move to Milang for the very special Milang 150th anniversary. The race will be run on a special street circuit that will be a crowd pleaser. Local results 2004 |
