After winning his inaugural B-Grade race last week, Josh Marden again left everyone in his wake to win the B-Grade 32km event at Heffron Park on Saturday 20 March 2004. Marden joined the Randwick Botany Cycling Club in January 2004 and won his first D-Grade race in February. He quickly progressed through C-Grade, scoring wins in each race. ‘He should seriously consider a crack at A-Grade’ commented Club President John Buckton after the race. ‘If he does, it will be one of the fastest progressions through the grades in the history of the 100-year-old club’ Buckton added.

The juniors competed in a 2km time trial this week, with thirteen-year-old Tom Patton recording the fastest time of 3min 16sec. Other junior riders included Andrew Young, Ben Hammond, Sam Harrison, Adriano Maradini, Ben Elliott, Andrew Weetman, Matthew Weetman, Ryan Sharpe and Tylor Weetman.

In other junior news, Adam Hogan from club sponsor Cheeky Monkey Multisport, Randwick, donated a new Merida junior road bike to the club. The bike has Shimano groupset and will be used for junior rider development. Club President John Buckton along with ten junior riders, accepted the donation at Heffron Park.
