Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Illawarra CCOctober 25, 2003Comensoli gets a breakA daring break-away in the final few kilometers gave Michael Comensoli a well-earned victory in the Caesar's Illawarra Cycle Club handicap race last Saturday. Comensoli beat Tony Stephenson for second and new member Darren Toms for third. Three short laps of the West Dapto course will always provide excitement during a handicap. The bunches, which were only separated by narrow time gaps, quickly caught the ones ahead. By the second lap, the middle bunches had combined their strongest riders and were in pursuit of the leaders, whilst the scratch and block riders struggled against the time they had to make up. In the end, it was the 4.5 and 6 minute bunches who managed to stay away from the fast moving remains of the 2 minute bunch with Joe Chiaverini, Peter Evans, Richard Lorenc and Frank Tortorici competing for the remaining prize money. Next week's 18 kilometre time trial is the first of the summer season at 8:30 on Sunday morning, marshal group 7. Don't forget the Illawarra track open on Saturday at the Unanderra Velodrome. Junior racing starts at 5:00pm with Seniors kicking off at 6:30pm. All are welcome to watch this spectacle.
