Peter Ransome, sporting a hot pair of wheels brilliantly won Saturday's 51km A Grade Scratch race on the Mungar-Tiaro course in 1hr 33mins 28secs. In a perfectly timed sprint Ransome held off a fast late challenge from Dulio Paterno and Steve Schofiled; Clint Johnson, winner of his second cycling scholarship, has made a return to club racing, and finished close behind the place-getters. Tri-athlete competitor Jason Chesire won the B Grade over the same distance in 1hr 37mins 38secs. Chesire defeated Steve Creed-Jacobs and Mark Fielding. Viv Young returned to racing after a long break with a win in the 45km C Grade event. Young still showed plenty of dash in the sprint winning from Nev Ransome and Gary McLeish. Young's time was 1hr 24mins 2secs. New Veteran Club rider Paul Blom from Tin Can Bay is quickly riding into form and should be a strong contender for the Master's Games in October. Blom narrowly defeated Ron Wroe and Allan Baker in the 30km Veteran race in 55mins 4secs. Kev James continues his great work with the sub-juniors putting Quinton Miller through his paces over 20km in 46mins 3secs. Racing for all grades next Saturday 2nd August will be on the Boonooroo Road Circuit. A 20km Team Time Trial for all Grades will take place.
