Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Randwick Botany CCHeffron Park, Maroubra, NSW, December 20, 2003Santa makes a C Grade guest appearanceBy Tony Horneman A slimmed-down Santa Claus (with a close resemblance to Randwick Botany Cycling club member Dunstan Bertshinger) registered to race in C-Grade at the Annual Christmas Pudding Races at Heffron Park on Saturday December 20, 2003. Santa attached his race number to the back of big red coat, firmly attached his red cap to his race helmet, tied back his long white beard and was off with 20 other C graders for a 28km race. Staying with the bunch for the first few laps, spectators and children cheered Santa each time he rode by, but he appeared to be sweating more than the other riders, probably due to wearing clothing more suited to the North Pole. Unfortunately, Santa did not feature in the placings. The race was won by Shaun Ballesty (the fox) from Randwick Botany CC, in a time of 43min 40sec. Second was Jim Eades (Southern Cross) with Arthur Driver (Penrith Panthers) third. It was an all-Randwick Botany affair in the premier 36km A-Grade race with Patrick Jones winning in a time of 54min 52sec, followed by new member Jerzy Sowa, Peter McDonald and Cyclingnews.com editor Jeff Jones. B-Grade placegetters were Andy Matthews (Randwick Botany), Matthias Schnapka (Germany) and Crispin Arnell (Randwick Botany). D-Grade was won by Matt Fawl (Randwick Botany), Murray Booth (Randwick Botany) and new member Alexandra Templeton. All placegetters received Christmas Puddings as prizes.
