Jamieson broke away from the bunch, which included many national representatives such as Matt Goss, Caleb Manion, Ryan Sullivan, David Klyne and the last winner of the event Nathan Clarke, early in the 35 lap race and gradually built his advantage over the bunch. Local hero Karl Menzies attempted to bridge the gap with Bernard Sulzberger but Jamieson kept building on his lead before lapping the remainder of the peloton at the bell. Menzies took second place in a close finish with Bernard Sulzberger. Clarke took out the bunch sprint for fourth. Earlier in the evening the Robinson brothers from Prospect - Ed, Tom and Will took out all 3 junior categories, while Legana breakaway specialist Timmy Walker took out the B grade event after a fine solo breakaway.
