Riders prepared for AustriaBy Susan Westemeyer The Tour of Austria is going up against the Tour of France, as always, but is featuring its usual strong cast. Many famous names will be in the chase up and down the Austrian mountains for eight stages. Stijn Devolder will lead Discovery Channel, the newly crowned Belgian champion is that unusual combination of a time trial specialist with good climbing abilities. Victor Hugo Pena (Unibet) and Oscar Sevilla (Relax) will also be eager to demonstrate their climbing abilities. The native sons will also be well represented, as both Austrian Professional Continental Teams, Elk Haus and Volksbank will be there. Volksbank will send Gerrit Glomser, who has won the race twice, while Elk Haus will be led by Christian Pfannberger, the new Austrian champion. The race features its two classic climbs - Stage 3's Kitzbuehler Horn and the Glocknere on the next day. The final stage is a time trial, which will be held for the 50th time in the capital city of Vienna.
