Stage 1 - January 16: Glenelg Street Race, 47 km

The 2001 Jacob's Creek Tour Down Under gets underway with a 47 kilometre street race in the seaside suburb of Glenelg, about 9 kilometre from Adelaide's city centre. The 1.88 kilometre course is quite straightforward, containing just five corners including one U-turn at Old Tapley's Hill Road (look out for the cyclingnews.com banner!).

Although the stage is unlikely to be crucial to the overall GC, it will give a chance for the fast men to test their legs, and pull on the first leader's jersey of the tour.
