Stage 9 - September 3: Tarragona-Tarragona ITT, 37.6 km

The second individual time trial is 37.6 kilometres, located before the halfway mark in the Mediterranean town of Tarragona. The parcours is flat with a maximum altitude of 70m, suiting riders such as Abraham Olano, Serhiy Honchar and Jan Ullrich (of course). The GC should have been sorted a little by the hills leading up to this stage.

The climate of Tarragona is perfect for cycling, averaging 23-25 celsius all year round. The lanscape is a little Greek, with its carob trees, vineyards, almond trees and olives. There is not much rain and sunny days are the norm.
