Petterson, Blenkisop claim wins

Joanna Petterson grabbed her second win of the weekend in the Super D event. Sam Blenkisop (Yeti/Fox) held off a strong field to win the men's race.

A new Super D course was unveiled for this weekend's competition at Deer Valley. There were very few sections requiring any pedaling and parts of the course were very steep.

After practice runs, the downhill racers reported that they loved the changes. The cross country racers, however, admitted that the lack of pedaling and the steep parts of the track would favor their downhill counterparts and the results for both the men's and women's racers confirmed these points of view.

At the start, all racers were required to run with their bikes for approximately 100 feet, then mount them cyclo-cross style before proceeding down the track.

Jon Wilson (Northstar) went on to finish fourth.
Geoff Kabush (Maxxis) could only manage 19th on the steep course/
Waylon Smith finished third.
Amiel Cavalier (Giant) finished second.
Young Kirk Turner (Bikeman) finished 19th, just ahead of Geoff Kabush (Maxxis).
Joanna Petterson had already won the downhill the same day.
Connie Misket (Velo Bella) took third place.
