Numbers were swelled by a large group of local school riders in the Under 17 and Under 15 categories. It was very pleasing to see this turnout of young riders following on from the introduction of a special Schools Teams category at the club's flagship race, the MONT Australian 24Hr Mountain Bike Championship, on 9 and 10 October. While many regulars were in Victoria for the Gravity 12 Hour endurance race, their absence was more than made up for by large numbers of locals, still riding on the post-MONT euphoria. In the Senior Men, the early battle was between James Williamson and Dylan Cooper. This was no surprise as both were members of the Mongoose team at the MONT which won the Teams of 4 Men and the overall title, with Dylan having taken first lap honours at the MONT by coming in 20 seconds ahead of YETI Pro Perren Delacour. James faded to fourth place by the end of the race, with Dylan taking out the win by 30 seconds from Shane Paton. MTBO Champion Emily Viner showed her form the the Senior Women, coming in 50 seconds ahead of Belinda Allison, with Niki Fisher in third - still on the mend from a recent spate of injuries.
