I-II-III race on the second day of the Nebraska Cyclocross Series at Swanson Park in Bellevue. Wilhelm cruised in four seconds ahead of teammate Adams Mills and 1:08 ahead of Bill Stolte to win for the second straight day. Saturdays race was run on the same course, only in the reverse direction. Wilhelm, who finished 17th at the Cross Crusade Cyclocross race in Portland last weekend, said hell compete at the second annual Boulevard Cup in Kansas City, Kan., then head west to Colorado for the third and fourth rounds of the 2006 US Gran Prix of Cyclocross. I dont know if Ill be back (in Nebraska) for the second Cyclocross Series race next month, but well see, he said. Sundays racers enjoyed slightly better weather conditions, with temperatures in the upper 30s and occasional sunshine.Wilhelm and Mills rode together for much of the hour-long race. With 300 meters to go, Wilhelm took the lead just before the uphill S-curve to the finish. We were pushing each other real good, Wilhelm said. Adam was going good on the flats and straight, but he had problems where the course was technical. The days most impressive performance was turned in by Trek/KCs Thomas Price, who crashed early on in the Cat. III-IV race and was nearly a minute behind after the first of eight laps. I crashed and someone ran over my bike, Price said. My wheels were both off kilter so I had to stop and re-adjust them before I could get going again. Price made up 30 seconds on the next lap, took the lead from MBWC/Team 14s Thadeus Neil with three laps to go and went on to win by 15 seconds. The Masters 35+/45+ race was thoroughly dominated by Team X, which swept the top five places. David Hejduk took the win, followed by Andy Lucas, Steve Songer, Brendon Jenks and Dean Parker. Lincoln Platings Sydney Brown won the womens open category and Bill Becker won on his hometown course for the second straight day in the Cat. IV race.
