Kilnaleck GPAugust 10, 2002Promoted by Navan Avonmore RC, the Kilnaleck GP was held over a distance of 30 miles in front of a huge crowd of spectators who thoroughly, enjoyed this great event. Going out on the final of the 7 lap circuit, Stephen 0'Sullivan (unattached) and Robert Whelan from the promoting club had a 25 second lead over the chasing group of 10 riders. But, with 3 miles of racing remaining, Robert Whelan was unfortunate enough to puncture, which left 0'Sullivan clear on his own fighting hard to hold the slim lead to the finish line. There was an absolutely thrilling sprint to the line for 2nd place with Peter Dunne from the promoting club narrowly getting the verdict over Aidan Crowley from the Cycleways Lee Strand Team and Craig Sweetman from the Stamullen M Donnelly Team inches away in 4th place.
