Day 6 - July 16: Baymont Inns & Suites Whitnall Park Road Race

Dominguez takes Hales Corners

Cuban sprinter Ivan Dominguez won the Baymont Inns & Suites Whitnall Park Road Race on Wednesday evening in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. After many breakaway attempts failed on this 1.2 mile course, a group of ten riders managed to separate themselves from the field with 12 laps remaining. The break quickly built a lead that approached one minute near the end. Successive attacks by German Sebastian Drenker and American Paul Martin in the closing laps all went for naught and it was Dominguez nipping them at the line. Viktor Rapinski finished in the field to retain the yellow jersey and overall race lead. Tomorrow the race moves to Humboldt Park on a difficult criterium course.
