Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Riverland Cycling ClubMonash, South Australia, November 8, 2005MacKirdy, Steele & Pankhurst take winsLast Tuesday saw the Riverland Cycling Club's summer criterium series kick off in good conditions. Fourteen riders ensured three competitive grades. A strong A grade group saw average speeds of 37km/hr with the group sharing the workload. With two laps to go Josh Steele broke away from the group. Lee Stevens headed the chasing group back to Steele but the extra effort needed in doing so would cost him in the final sprint. A fast finish (56km/hr) saw the in-form Hamish MacKirdy sprint over the top of Steele and Nigel Willoughby to win. In B-grade, a strong ride by Amanda Steele saw her win from Greg Hatcher and Peter Weston. Steele's strength and endurance saw the B grade group of six riders reduced to three in a short time, with the average speed of 34.5km/hr also proving to be tough. The final sprint saw Steele hold off a challenge from Hatcher. Racing in C grade came down to the final sprint to determine a winner, with Bob Pankhurst prevailing from John Eshman and Barry Trewren. The summer criterium series is held every Tuesday night at Monash with racing starting at 6:30pm.
