The race was run in six divisions with points awarded for places in each stage. Stage one was 53kms with stage two 27 kms. James Russell returned to his previous winning style and looks like making a late charge on John Giles as the leading club rider. He took out first in both stages of A grade from the VLCC rider Simon Cooper with John Watters and Paul Bell also claiming places. Russell will have difficulty matching last years impressive total of thirteen victories but the win takes him to four for the season with a total of seven major results. John Watters his team mate with Herb Valley is not far behind with five major results that include three victories. Paul Bell continues to notch up the results moving to an outstanding nine for the year. In B grade the in form Neville Elliot struck yet again to claim his tenth result and third victory for the season. He held out some very prominent names from this years form guide with Norman Hoy, Andrew Coombe and VLCC rider Greg Chivers. More in form riders took out C Grade with Fhillipo Imessi taking his third victory for the year holding out Bob Seymour, Justin Dawson and VLCC rider Steve Johns. Seymour claimed his fifth second place for the year and his seventh major result. D grade was a victory to Bernie Szantyr to take his tally to five major results including two wins this year. He kept Steve Bradley, Justin Dawson and Chris Mavrangelos in the minor places with his strong finishing in stage one and he just missed out in stage two finishing second and taking the race overall on points. In E grade Brian Dey broke through for his first win of the season. He has had success in the past with the club having taken a victory in 2003. He held out VLCC rider Don Taylor, Robert Freak and Audrey Donson with his win. In F Grade Mary Callahan continues her successful season with the club taking her first win of the year and only her second since starting with the club in 2002. She was able to keep VLCC rider Bob Thain, Tom Trowbridge and Joe Skibinski at bay with her strong finishing.
