Today’s race saw the return to racing of Craig Cahill who made the most of
his 3 month lay-off with a well-timed sprint finish in A Grade. Cahill and 3
others (Harris, Blackmore and Driver) got a break on the rest of the field and,
despite a determined chase from Mike Griffen, Ashley Goewie and Luke Lucas,
stayed off the front for most of the race. In B Grade, Andrew Pheely was just
too strong for the bunch. In C Grade, Werner Rogosenski won a prime mid way
through the race and still had enough in the tank to win the sprint finish.
At “3 to go” Hayden Francis was away and looked to have a good break on the
field. But he was swamped in the final few metres. The “D Grade demons” of Blake-Owen,
Follett and Evangelista again rode away from the field and fought out the placings
between themselves. Top Woman finisher was promising newcomer Amanda Miller.
In E Grade the young kids are getting better and better with each race and as
their skills and strengths improve so does the competition amongst them.
