Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Norwood Cycling Club Tuesday series #16Regency Park, South Australia, March 2, 2004Scorching A grade sees Aitken in fine formAdelaide, good weather one day, better the next with perfect weather for this evening of very fast racing. The bunch of E grade riders rode very well to keep the group together. A lot of riders have left this grade and have been advancing through the ranks with success. This will be a move that Scott Goodwin will now be making as he took out the fast sprint over Andrew Welch. Special mention must be made of Michael Davis riding his own race as a junior breaking away from the group and finishing a length of the straight ahead. Specialist master sprinter Steve Zucker has returned to fine form easily taking the win in the D grade race. Again the fast pace kept the bunch together with no-one able to make a break and the bunch this week actually rode to time. New riders Peter Sabine and Greg Stanyer took second and third. In C grade new rider Michael Lampp easily won the sprint over Judd Walker who is making a comeback to the sport and Paul Wainwright third, all three riders will be riding their next criterium in B grade. Darren Hansberry was elated to return to form in B grade by taking out the strong sprint from a fast David Miller who will make the move to A grade. Again this bunch stayed together for the sprint. A grade kept an awesome pace tonight averaging 50km/h for their 50 minute criterium. This was the fastest race this grade has had so far this season despite missing a few of the riders who had their noses out of joint for being disqualified on the weekend. James Hannam who is off to Italy this week made the first move with German rider Arne Hinrichsen and Olympian Brett Aitken, this powerhouse trio put the hammer down but the bunch did not want to let them get away. They were soon bought back to the bunch but the pace did not let up. This was certainly the best race of the season coming down to a very fast sprint with Aitken on a roll winning his third race in a row by exploding from the bunch for the easy sprint win. Aitken is now heading to the Bendigo Madison with extremely good form, whilst other locals will be competing in a road race at Gumeracha this weekend.
