Thursday's stage 5 will be the longest of the Giro so far, although stage 7, 13 and 18 are of comparable distance. 229 kilometres from Avellino (the town at the base of yesterday's finishing climb) to Nettuno. The first part of the race heads towards Maddaloni (km 44) before turning to Caserta and Capua, along the Via Appia, then Formia and Lazio.
After this, the riders will go to Itri, Fondi and then towards Terracina and the sea. The finish is slightly downhill into Nettuno, and this could be a conventional sprint finish.
