Minnesota Cyclocross Series #1
Moorehead, MN, September 17, 2005
The Minnesota Cycling Federation's 2005 Cyclocross series, sponsored by Burnsville Subaru, kicked off the season with it's first race on September 17. The weather cooperated, with generally overcast, but dry conditions, with fans and racers joined by a plethora of uninvited mosquitos. But hey, this IS Minnesota.
An early crash at the first barrier on lap one caused a minor disruption to the pack, but three riders managed to escape with Mike Taylor, (McGuire-Langdale) taking the first and only prime on the first go-round. Jacob Steckman (Alan Factory), Mike Taylor (McGuire-Langdale) and Pat Lemieux (Hollywood Cycles) maintained a 20 second lead to the rest of the pack for the first half of the race until Steckman attacked the two riders and rode off the front, never to be caught.
In the final it was Jacob Steckman for the win, Mike Taylor for 2nd and Pat Lemieux for 3rd. Thanks to the Great Plains CC and Island Park Cycles for putting on a great race!
