Alexander takes Rod Hansen Memorial

Cambridge rider Jeff Alexander, perhaps better known as NZ road time trial champion Meshy Holt's number one fan & bag carrier, made off with the Rod Hansen Memorial Trophy in Friday night's Champion Of Champions Half Mile handicap at the Manukau Velodrome. Riding off 95 metres, Alexander mowed down the front markers, and held off fast finishing scratchman Neil Campbell for his best result of the season.

Campbell's 4th place in the handicap was his only disappointment of the night though. Campbell dominated the A-Grade competition, winning the Elimination, the Points race and the 15,000m Scratch, while his victory in the Keirin gives him an unassailable lead in the Sprinters' points competition.
