Stonefield Cycles Newcastle Track League

Despite the rain during the day and the added attraction of England v Portugal a healthy field of riders lined up for the second Track League of the season.

In the Freewheelers League Sassan Emadi, Newcastle RC 2001, scored well making full use of the absence of rival Declan Hattle to extend his lead in the league. First night rider John Mycock showed promise in scoring 7pts and then went on to score highly when riding a track bike for the first time in the later Under 16league.

In the young Freewheelers league Ewan McQuade top scored to take the overall lead in the league from Tom Gowans. The league also had it's youngest rider competing in 6 year old Joseph Adams who made good advantage of his handicap in winning two events.

In the main League Ed Nicholson was clearly the strongest rider on the night and full advantage of the absence of defending Champion James Notley in winning two events. Veteran rider Steve Cronshaw showed that age is no barrier winning the opening 10 lap scratch and the A Class Sprint. In the B Class Events there is a close battle developing between Jason Jones and Brian Entwistle , Lyme RC, who share the league lead with 12 pts.
