More records tumble in session three
Records continued to tumble with three new times set on the second morning of heats at the Lion Foundation New Zealand Track Cycling Championships in Invercargill today.
Riding as an Under 19 for the first year, Auckland rider Sam Webster broke the Junior Under 19 men's sprint record this morning in qualifying rides at the ILT Velodrome, clocking 10.805s for the 200m.
Otago's Charlotte Kelly rode 2:41.468 to top qualifiers and set a new mark in the under 17 2000m individual pursuit.
Backing up his national record set at the Southland Championships earlier this month, the talented Pieter Bulling from Southland clocked a brilliant 2:19.640 to break his own mark for the under 17 boys in the 2000m individual pursuit.
Top qualifiers Justin Grace (Auckland) and super-talented Southland teenager Eddie Dawkins both won through in this morning quarterfinals of the men's sprint and are favoured to meet in tonight's finals.
Cantabrians Natasha Hansen and Jos Rastrick, the top qualifiers, were also impressive going through in two straight wins in the women's quarterfinals and are tipped to clash in the final.
