New Zealand National Track Cycling Championships - NEInvercargill, New Zealand, February 25-March 1, 2008Main Page Results Overall standings Previous Race Next Race Race 2 - February 25: Evening sessionMcKenzie gets meet's second recordAuckland teenager Stephanie McKenzie rode her way into the record books on the first night of finals at the Lion Foundation Track Cycling Championships in Invercargill tonight. It was an outstanding ride for the junior who in her first season as an Under 17, shaved 1.6 seconds off the record in the 500m time trial, clocking 37.415s at the ILT Velodrome tonight. New Zealand representative Hayden Godfrey (Christchurch), back from the world cup in Denmark, took out the overall honours in the men's omnium, made up of five individual events. Godfrey won the kilo time trial and finished second in the points race after Otago's Anthony Chapman lapped the field to take the maximum points. The Cantabrian finished clear of Simon Van Velthooven for the overall honours with Andrew Williams (Auckland) third. World Champion Paula Tesoriero (Wellington) showed blistering pace to win the AWD 500m Time Trial. Tesoriero was within a fraction of a second of breaking her own world record that she set earlier this month in Sydney.
