Myron Simpson (Auckland), Jason Christie (Mid-South Canterbury), Tom Scully (Southland), and Shane Archbold (Mid-South Canterbury) raced together for the first time and set a new record time of 4.21.705, smashing the old record time of 4.35.575 set in Wanganui in 1997. In the final of the men's team sprint, the Canterbury team of Adam Stewart, Pete Murray, and Matt Fox beat their new national record from this morning, with a time of 47.040 seconds. A star studded line up of New Zealand's best female cyclists fought out the women's 20km points race, with defending champion Jo Kiesanowski narrowly beating Catherine Cheatley. The result was decided in the final sprint when Kiesanowski narrowly beat Cheatley, giviing her a total of 18 points, with Cheatley and Katri Laike both finishing on 17.
