Introduction to Track Racing - What's a Wheelrace? - Introduction to Six Day racing - UCI codes
Burnaby Six Day - 6DBurnaby, British Columbia, Canada, December 31-January 5, 2007Main Page Results Overall standings Previous Race Next Race Race 4 - January 3:Symmetrics still holds leadAfter an exciting night of racing involving two madisons and two individual rider races, Symmetrics Cycling still maintains its two lap lead over Slipstream Sports. Both Healthnet and Successful Living has fallen another lap down, now showing four and six laps off the leaders. The first Madison of the night was taken by Symmetrics. Both Symmetrics and Slipstream were able to put one lap on Healthnet and Successful Living during this race. The second race saw Mike Friedman of Slipstream ride to victory in the one-rider Elimination to Scratch race. The next race was a full Elimination race, with Kirk O'Bee of Healthnet taking the win. The big performers of the night were the US National team of Daniel Holloway andIggy Silva. The motivated duo was able to put a lap on the entire field during the 200 lap Madison. This was a very important move for the US National team, as it brought them on even laps with Team dEVo, and moves them into fifth place overall, displacing dEVo on points. The extended Friday night schedule has three madisons and two one-rider races. Sprinters will also take to the boards, and will be duking it out in the Elite keirin rounds. 100 lap 10 x 10 MadisonThe first Madison of the night saw Symmetrics and Slipstream Sports take a lap on Healthnet, Successful Living, US National and dEVo. Elimination to ScratchThe first one-rider race was a 50 percent Elimination to Scratch. Six riders were eliminated in the standard miss and out format, and then the final six riders completed a 20 lap scratch race. Friedman (Slipstream) was relentless in his attacks, forcing Healthnet and Successful Living to chase for the entire 20 laps. Friedman took the win, with Cody O'Reilly of Successful Living in second. EliminationThe second one-rider race was a standard Elimination race, pulling down to three riders. O'Bee of Healthnet rode a strong race, taking victory of Brad Huff of LA Lightning and Silva of US National. 200 lap 10 x 20 MadisonThe final race of the night was a long 200 lap 10 x 20 madison. Four nights of racing seems to have mellowed the group a little, with five teams staying together for the entire race. The Team of Holloway and Silva were tenacious in its pursuit of gaining a lap on the field, and were successful in this after a long effort of about 40 laps. Team dEVo, trying to preserve its fifth place standing, made a valiant attempt to defend against this attack by US National, but to no avail. The lap by US National moves them into fifth place overall ahead of dEVo. PhotographyFor a thumbnail gallery of these images, click here Images by Joe Sales
