Oceania Track Championships - CCMelbourne, Australia, November 23-26, 2006Main Page Results Overall standings Previous Day Day 4 - November 26Henderson dominates scratch and points races; Kerrie Meares claims women's keirinBy Amy McCann The crowd was seeing double at the Joe Ciavola Velodrome with New Zealand's Greg Henderson claiming the men's 15km scratch race in the morning session and then backing it up with gold in the men's 30km points race only six hours later. The 2004 world scratch champion defeated Zap Dempster (Bendigo CC) and Hayden Josfeski (QLD) in the scratch final, whilst he also dominated the points race with 85 points, 32 ahead of Dempster and Josfeski again. In the men's team sprint final, Shane Perkins, Scott Sunderland and Joel Leonard narrowly defeated Mark French, Jason Niblett and Daniel Ellis by only 0.070. Kerrie Meares claimed her second medal of the championships, but this time it was gold in the women's keirin. Kerrie edged out Chloe Macpherson and women's time trial champion Kristine Bayley for gold. In other events, Queensland's Phillippa Hindmarsh was too quick for her opponents in the junior women's time trial, claiming gold in a time nearly two seconds ahead of Courtney Le Lay and Chloe Hosking's. In the men's 4000m team pursuit final, Philip Thuax, Zak Dempster, Hayden Josfeski and Stephen Rossendell caught the New Zealand team after 11 laps to claim gold and Byron Davis beat Mark Glowacki in the junior men's sprint final in straight sets.
