British flag but no riders
from GB this year. There was a British pairing due to ride in the Under 23's section, but they didn't start.
-
190m Track with the VIP boxes
and 9 bars in the track centre, shortly before the doors were opened and the hall filled up with spectators.
-
Bruno Risi and Kurt Betschart
'sign on' in front of the German media before the ceremonial start of the first night of the event.
-
All the presentations made
and VIPs introduced, the riders prepare for the start of the main event.
-
The Six-Day is under way
and riders start to pick up speed before the first points of the session (every 10 laps) but with a short track the action was almost continuous while the riders were on the track.
-
Bruno Risi, Jimmi Madsen,
Iijo Keisse and Andreas Kappes pick up the pace in the early laps of the first night's racing.
-
A real favourite
with the partisan crowd was Erik Zabel.
-
Marc Hester slings Jimmi Madsen
into the fray. Watching these hand-slings at around thirty miles an hours was great.
-
Marco Villa relays Erik Zabel
into the action behind Iijo Keisse as the pace hots up for the next sprint.
-
Eventual overall winners
of the event, Robert Slippens throws Danny Stam into the action as the pair stir things up on the first night.
-
Andreas Muller throws Erik Weißpfennig
into the action as the pace remains high on the opening event of the night.
-
First (and only?) casualty
of the event was Bruno Risi. He and his partner Kurt Betschart crashed during the first evening's session resulting in a possible broken collar bone for Risi. Here he is attended to at the track side by the medical team.
-
Crowd favourites Erik Zabel
and team mate Marco Villa do a lap of honour after taking victory in on of the early intermediate events within the six-day.
-
Guido Fulst
winds up the pace for his team mate Leif Lampater as the pair 'go for a time' in the 500m Time Trial.
-
Andreas Kappes picks up
the pace for team mate Franco Marvulli as the pair wind it up in the 500m Time Trial..
-
Next up were the crowd favourites,
Erik Zabel and Marco Villa. Here Villa sets the pace for Zabel as the pair put in their effort for the 500m Time Trial.
