An Indiana rider gets ready before the Italian sprint race to decide third place.
The IU team at the start of their Italian sprint race for 3rd/4th place.
A Marian rider leads the way in the 1st/2nd Italian sprint race. The race didn't get much beyond this when two Marian riders crashed on the opposite stretch, sending one to the hospital.
The downed Marian rider gets evaluated by the medics. Everyone's thoughts are with him for a quick recovery.
Andy Lakatosh (Penn St.) races against Joushua Ryan (Arizona St.) in a quarter-final of the match sprint.
Ryan uses his shifty-eyes technique to see where Lakatosh will attack.
After the attack, Lakatosh leads Ryan into the final lap and will advance to the semi-finals.
In other quarterfinal action, IU's Simeon Commissiong gets ready to overtake LSU's William Cheramie to advance to the semis.
In the first semi-final, Lakatosh was under the watchful eye of his competitor from Marian.
In keeping with the collegiate theme of these nationals, Penn St.'s Mike Friedman gets in some study time in between cheering for his team-mate.
