Victory to Gilmore/Wiggins

Local favourites Matthew Gilmore and Brad Wiggins emerged as the final winners of the 63rd Ghent Six after a strong performance on the last night to overhaul Robert Slippens/Danny Stam, who had led since Night 2. Starting just one point behind the Dutch duo, Gilmore/Wiggins rose to the occasion and finished up on 365 points, 21 points in front of Slippens/Stam. The third place on the podium went to Bruno Risi/Kurt Betschart, who managed to gain a lap on the field to put them on level pegging with the leaders, despite having a large points disadvantage.
