Foska
Novelty jersey manufacturers Foska have yet more designs on show. After the
success of their Fuller’s London Pride (beer) jersey, they have produced an
ESB version - another brand from the same brewery. One of their most popular
designs is their Marmite jersey, so there is a new version of this procaliming
that the wearer is 'Great in Bread' (geddit?). For those of you not yet acquainted
with fine English cuisine (be on the lookout for my forthcoming publication
on the subject - one of the world's shortest books), Marmite is a spread made
from yeast extract, with Marmite on toast being a national dish. I'm not sure
if there's a US equivalent, but for Aussie readers, think Vegemite - but nicer.
Another new one they’re particularly proud of features the handsome visage of
Popeye the Sailor, perfect for those of us who like our spinach!
Rapha
New from Rapha this year is their winter training cap. Based on the old traditional
Belgian winter cap, it's a similar shape to their racing caps with flaps to
keep your ears warm on those chilly Flemish mornings. Made from the usual Rapha
blend of modern and traditional materials, it’s thin enough to be worn under
a helmet. Rapha also have two new colour options for their merino wool training
jersey. One is purple with a yellow band around one sleeve - inspired by Raymond
Poulidor’s Mercier jersey. The other is a Merckx Molteni-inspired one in Black
with a brown stripe. For the cyclist who has everything, they present their
training diary. Bound in leather and produced by a Bond Street diary printer
- it’s a must for everyone’s Christmas stocking!
Campagnolo
As well as their vast range of clothing in modern fabrics, Campagnolo have
a selection of beauiful retro wool jerseys. Gotta love that celeste version!
