Part 18 - October 12: Argon 18 adds new full carbon TT bike to its 2007 lineup

Expected to arrive at dealers in May of the coming year will be the brand new Element 114 time trial bike. After the success of the half aluminum, half carbon Mercury TT bike, Argon 18 decided it was time to go all out with a newly designed full carbon monocoque frame. Debuting at Interbike, the Element 114 offers a complete time trial package with frame, fork, seat post, handle bars, and brakes.

Heading up the new package is a slick new interchangeable carbon fork. The fork allows a rider to easily remove it for travel, while replacing it without major adjustments or it can be traded out for a standard road fork. Topping off the control center is another new addition to the Argon 18 family with a set of also fresh off the design table, full carbon bars. Display bars here were just the prototypes but the shipped versions offer up full adjustability and fork integration.
Fame weight for the Element comes in at 1200 grams. Seat angles with the standard seat post are the roadie oriented 76 degrees while an optional post can be traded out to bring the seat angle to a more tri friendly 78. Retail prices are said to be ranged between $3500 to $4000 and includes the frame, fork, bars/stem, and seat post. Watch for more info in the coming months.

Argon 18 will also step in to the pro team sponsorship spotlight this coming season with its support of the new Expresscopy.com/Biovail women's UCI pro team. Based out of Canada and run by Giroscopic Sports Management, Expresscopy.com/Biovail is an expansion from the past several years Team Biovail. The bolstered team will tackle a full season of North American racing with several forays into the European scene. With riders signing multi-year contracts, management and sponsors hope to provide a platform for riders to progress onto the 2008 Beijing Olympic team and even further.
