Former world champion Mario Cipollini drew some of the longest lines on Thursday at Interbike, after partying the night away at the annual Sinclair party. Cipo was the guest of Specialized while over at the Hincapie clothing booth, it was none other than the new US PRO road champion George Hincapie.

On the other side were Luna Chix Marla Streb and Allison Dunlap, signing autographs at Orbea. But the biggest and best line-up award goes to Scott with a whole row of autographing ladies, or 'contessas', in line with their new women's specific bikes.

Pedro's cleans up everyone's act

One of the industry leaders in making bikes cleaner is also taking steps to make the environment cleaner. Pedro's has a new line of products that are not only completely bio-degradable, but also much more friendly to use. Chris Zigmont of Pedro's says that other products that are bio-degradable have known carcinogens in them, making the 'shop environment' unsafe.

The three products leading the line are a foaming bike wash that can be washed or wiped off, a new and improved degreaser that is claimed to be 100 times stronger than Oranj Peelz, and a green-friendly chain lube.

Also turning heads at Pedros is the new carbon-fibre multi-tool; a must-have for those that are the ultimate weight savers. But be prepared to fork over $70 for it. Included with this new tool (and the non-carbon version) is a new attachment for wrenching Mavic Ksyrium spokes.

Lake lessens pocketbook impact

After reviewing the new CX400 custom-moldable shoes earlier this year, one minor drawback was the higher price. Well fear not, says Lake founder Lee Katz, the latest offering is half the price without sacrificing the two best parts: lightness and stiffness.

The new line has the same kangaroo leather upper, but increased ventilation thanks to more holes and less material getting in the way. The BOA locking system also gets an overhaul. Instead of pushing a button to release, the entire dial is pulled out making it much easier to adjust on the move. The BOA is also relocated to the rear of the shoe. Three colours are offered and a MTB model with rubber grips on the bottom as well.

Parlee adds fourth generation of carbon

It started with the Z1 series, and now Bob Parlee is onto his fourth carbon bike with the Z4. It's light, of course, and has a new construction. Like many carbon bikes this year the front end (top tube and down tube) are one solid piece to become a half monocoque. It is still in the final production stages so look for it just down the road.

Challenge tyres offers a new foldable clincher cyclocross tyre for the upcoming season. The tyre has a lesser amount of treads for decreased rolling resistance and ideal for the less foul conditions before winter. At 290 threads per inch the Grifo is a high-quality cross tyre that folds too!

Vellum is new kid on the bike block

A sharp looking set of carbon fibre bikes was on display in the 'new vendor' area of Interbike. Vellum has roots in the Philippines and is quickly moving up in the industry, thanks to their fast-looking bikes. Look for a full review of the Edge road bike upcoming in Cyclingnews.
