Team Cyclingnews.com - 2005Team Journal Entry - April 16, 2005, by Cody Stevenson Training rides and shopping bags...Hello to all, Long time no write! For some of you this will be the first time you have heard from me in a while; to get more updates, check our team website diaries at cyclingnews.com A lot has happened since my last diary entry - I have been racing and training; did a training ride with Maurizio Fondriest and had a lovely visit from my girlfriend. On the racing side of things the team has been performing well, with the new
riders settling in to their new lifestyle, and the old ones (like myself) going
about business as usual. Last week the boys went to Ronde Van Drenthe, a race that ended up giving two of our riders injuries. Leigh unfortunately broke his collarbone for the second time in six months, and Cam crashed hard on his knee. In total four riders from the team had crashes that day. A good one to miss I guess! The training ride with Mr Fondriest was the day before the Tour of Flanders, and was a bit of a meet and greet for the former world champion. We were invited as we are using the Fondriest frames for this season. He was in Belgium to attend the cyclo tourist version of the Tour of Flanders...he is one fit cyclo tourist! The visit from my girlfriend, Kate, was an awesome time! I did a bit of shopping...well carrying bags! I am sure when she comes back later in the year, when it is sale time, I will again be doing some bag carrying. I better get those dumbells out! Nothing like a bit of cross training! Coming up next for the boys will be Rund um Dhuren on Sunday, followed by Ronde van Noord Holland the following week then off to Denmark, Germany, Holland and back to Belgium. So as the weather warms up, the kilometres keep ticking over and the races come thick and fast. This is the time of the season that I enjoy, and hopefully with all the hard work will come a bit of luck. It is time to step up to the plate...if you don't have a swing you will never know! Cheers, Cody |
