Results and Reports from the USAPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to cyclingnews Clif Bar CriteriumDominguez Hills, CA, March 16, 2003Report by Team Monex Team Monex/Hot Wheels rider Greg Medinilla won today's 60 minute Cliff Bar Criterium held Sunday in Dominguez Hills, CA. Clear skies greeted the riders after Saturday's torrential storm that hit SoCal and threatened to wash away the event. The decisive move was made half way through the race when Schroeder's Mike Tillman attacked and took Medinilla and teammate Ryan Barrett with him. The trio worked well together and a second group that included Monex's Ken Toman tried to bridge. With the wind breaking the spirit of the chasers, the leading trio put the hammer down to stay clear. It was apparent that the race was going to come down to a sprint between Medinilla and Tillman. However, entering the last lap Barrett attacked hoping to catch Tillman off guard and give Medinilla the advantage in the sprint. It worked to perfection as Medinilla took his second win of the year. In the age-graded event, Monex/Hot Wheels also took the win as Thurlow Rogers and John Wordin were part of a four man break that escaped early on. Wordin was away with RPM's Chris Walker just 10 minutes into the 60 minute race when Rogers and Roger Worthington came across 15 minutes later. The four riders put time into the field and after Wordin took a prime with two laps to go, Rogers countered and went clear for the win.
