Results and Reports for May 11-17, 2002USAPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to cyclingnews Sara Kay Memorial circuit raceGolden, Colorado, May 11, 2002Team Mercury report Mercury's Scott Moninger took the fourth annual Sara Kay Memorial circuit race Saturday in Golden Colorado. Moninger attacked solo, early in the event, and built up a lead of 45 sec. After riding solo for 40 minutes, Moninger was joined by a chase group which included teammate Phil Zajicek, Jon Vaughters of Credit Agricole, and Dan Schmaltz of 7-Up. This group was working well together for a brief time until Zajicek flatted. The remainder of this group was caught by the field with about 25 minutes remaining in the event. At that moment, local pro Mark Southard made a good counter attack move and was quickly joined by Moninger. The two riders worked well together and soon had a lead of 30 seconds. With one lap to go on the 2.5 mile circuit, the pair had opened up their advantage to 1 minute. Moninger took Southard in the final sprint for the win, and 7-Up's Chuck Coyle won the field sprint for 3rd.
