Pate solos to victory in Lake Eola

Two days of racing kicked off in a wet Florida weekend with the Lake Eola Criterium on Saturday afternoon. The competition was aggressive from the start with Prime Alliance and the Saturn Cycling Team doing battle in an effort to get a small group away from the main field. The five Saturn athletes raced furiously covering and creating good breakaways, however, the mix of the riders in the breaks never seemed to bring the goal to fruition. The Prime Alliance Team was able to capitalize on a spot of punctures and a crash, seizing the opportunity to get the winning break up the road and clear of the Saturn Team. Prime Alliance teammates Danny Pate and Dave McCook showed their strength, and eventually sent Pate off for the solo win with McCook second. Oscar Peneda of 7-up/Nutrafig finished in third.
