The 2002 edition of the Tjejtrampet Crit Race in Sweden was won for the fourth time by Leontien Zijlaard-van Moorsel, who was in dominant form.

The Swedish Crit Race is an interesting, spectator-friendly race, being something of a hybrid points-elimination race run in two parts.

It started with 20 laps of a criterium circuit and a sprint was contested every second lap. Points were given out to the first three riders in every sprint. (3-2-1 points). After 20 laps the riders were stopped and the ten riders who earned most points were restarted. (If less than ten riders have taken points, the last sprint will decide who will restart with the leaders.)

In the restarted race, the last rider to pass the line on every lap was eliminated. The winner of the race was decided between the last two riders left in the race.

One of Van Moorsel's rivals, Norwegian Monika Valen, fell in the final. The crash gave the Dutch star a small gap to Lisbeth Simper and Regina Schleicher, second and third respectively, a gap that had grown to a clear victory for the Farm Frites-Hartol rider.
