Day 3 - June 3: Road races, 40km, 50km, 60km

Report courtesy of Alan Messenger

Aucklander Aaron Strong lived up to his name when he battled the toughest conditions in six years to win the Three day Tour of Taranaki that finished at new Plymouth.

A former runner, Strong won the b grade section of the Tour last year in only his first year in the cycling sport. Over the three days Strong won the Prologue time trial and the 57km stage two, which finished on the lower slopes of Mount Taranaki. Strong, who also won the KOM title, won overall by twenty seconds from Junior Track pursuit Champion Peter Latham (Te Awamutu) with another Aucklander, Andrew East, third at 24 seconds.
