Day 2 - June 2: Road race, 57km

Report courtesy of Alan Messenger

Aucklander Aaron Strong is back in yellow after a brilliant climb up the side of Mt Taranaki (Egmont) on day two of the three day Tour of Taranaki.

Strong had handed the jersey over to junior track champion Peter Latham after the first stage on Saturday, but Latham lost contact on the mountain at the finish of the 57km stage today. He dropped to second place, 25 secs behind Strong.

The big mover was Logan Hutchings (Dunedin) who finished third on the stage and moved from 10th to 3rd on the general classification. The Tour finishes at New Plymouth on Monday, June 3.
