Stage 1 - April 26: Firenze-Cinquale Montignoso, 171 km

Today was the first stage of the Giro Regioni from Florence to Cinquale Montignoso. The course was over 171km and was mostly flat apart from a 200 metre climb near the start and a nasty climb on a finish circuit to be covered twice. The Australians rode well as a team and had a man in every break and worked with everyone contributing. On the final circuit it was Caleb Manion who produced big effort to finish in the front group in 6th place and move into 6th overall.

Tomorrow is the mountain stage which should decide who will be the main contenders for the overall.
